Enhance your Roses, not Thorns

If I ask you to count your strengths then list may cross five or even it may reach ten. Now if I ask about your weaknesses. How many weaknesses do you think, you have? A couple of or say three or at the most five.

We are born with weaknesses as well as strengths. These could be physical or internal. We humans have the tendency to enhance or flaunt our strengths and suppress our weaknesses. But when it comes to others, we may start enhancing theirs weaknesses and suppress strengths. We always look others mistakes and weaknesses like searching thorns in flowers and start criticizing.

Let me tell you one story of a man who planted a small beautiful rose plant in his garden. He used to water it faithfully. One day he examined it closely.

He saw the bud that would soon blossom. Suddenly, small minute thorns caught his eyes.rose-thorn He scanned the plant thoroughly. It had a few small thorns on it. As he touched those small thorns, it jabbed. He amazingly thought, ‘How can any beautiful flower come from a plant burdened with so many sharp thorns?

Saddened by this thought, he stopped watering the plant, and before it was ready to bloom, it weakened and languished.

Just like rose, we humans are born with fragrant flowers and sharp thorns. There are roses and thorns in our soul.

Roses are our talents, strengths like inspiring, optimistic, friendly etc. and our loving heart which pumps fragrant energy and bring confidence in us just like sunflowers get energy from the rays of rising sun.

Thorns are our faults, our weaknesses like fearful, moody, undisciplined, stubborn etc.

These roses and thorns varies from person to person.

Many of us look at ourselves and see only the thorns i.e. defects. Hence we conclude, nothing good can possibly come from us. And we stop watering the good within us and eventually it dies within us. We never realize our or others potential and start criticizing and complaining. Finally, it gives birth to pessimism.

StrengthsWeaknessIf someone don’t see roses in them then we must scratch and enhance their strengths and water them rather than criticizing.

find strengthOne of the greatest gifts a person can possess is to be able to reach past the thorns and find the roses within others.

This is the characteristic of Love, to look at a person, and knowing his faults, recognize the nobility in his soul and help him realize that he can overcome his faults. If we show him the rose, he will conquer the thorns. We call it building confidence.

Our duty is to enhance roses in others, not thorns. Only then we can achieve the love we should feel for each other; only then can we bloom in our own garden.

Let your fragrance rejuvenate

maya angelouPeople come and go in our lives.  Everyone writes their own chapters in the book of life.

Some people leave us and we forget them, while others leave and we remember special moments.  These people have become unforgettable.

Why are we reminded of their words?  Why do we remember the special moments with them?  Why do we feel love and affection for them when they are gone?

One day someone asked me, “Do you love pets?”

I replied, “Yes I do.”

He continued, “Do you have any?”

I said, “No, but someday I would like to have a dog. I love dogs!”

After listening to my reply, he thought for a while and asked, “Aviral, do you know why we care for dogs when they give nothing back?  Sheep give wool and cows give milk but we don’t care for them.  Why do we care for dogs?”

This conversation made me think.  Human beings do love dogs!  Dogs become family and in some cases, more than family!  In many cases, we spend thousands of dollars on our beloved dogs.  Why do we do this?

The answer is simple.  Dogs give LOVE!

Dogs will desperately wait for their master and greet them at the door, jump on them with Dogs love for masterexcitement and lick them to show their love.

I have experienced this level of affection with my uncles black Labrador. My uncle lives on the 9th floor and whenever he comes back and parks his car in the parking garage he starts barking and waits for him at the door.

Imagine if you were to come home from a stress filled day and your significant other were to greet you in a way similar to that of a dog.  How would you feel if you were showered with this type of love and affection?

You would likely feel Energetic, Rejuvenated and you would be left with a smile on your face.  It would ease your stress and remove your uneasiness.

The moral is, people remember how you make them feel and the memories you’ve left them with.

If you have made someone feel special then they will never forget you.  They will desire your presence.

On the other hand, if you hurt someone’s feelings and make them feel bad they will neither forget nor will they forgive you.

So, spread love and make your family members and loved ones feel the fragrance of your soul.

Keep Smiling.. 🙂

4Ps can change your life

Everyday we learn something, whether it is about our Career, Relationships or Life. Whatever we learn and absorb in our mind, it makes us grow which reflects on our family. As our family grows, our neighborhood flourishes. Flourishing of our neighborhood leads to cultivation of society. Further, our state grows and country grows. Hence, our world blossoms. Growth always start from a micro level and goes to macro level.

4PsWe human beings are the micro level and World is macro.

To be a successful person, we have to be a better personality, a better person by heart, by attitude which reflects in our maturity.

It is very simple to say, “I am a matured person..”

Now the question is, if you really are a “MATURED” person then why our society, our country and our world isn’t flourishing as it should be?

Why we see hatred and poverty in our society?

Why we get disheartened? Why we are not growing?

Why we do not have patience, why we get so excited and outburst when some one tries to provoke us?

Why our egos come across in our relationships?

There could be numerous questions which can question our humanity.

These are very basic questions which needs to be answered and if you have these Ps then my dear friend you are matured enough. You can actually change the neighborhood, society, country and the whole world.

4Ps can change your life….

  1. Passion
  2. Perseverance
  3. Patience
  4. Politeness

Many entrepreneurs and leaders always said, ‘Follow your Passion’. Go for it which you are passionate about. Do what you love.

“Passion is energy. Feel the power that comes from focusing on what excites you.”

Oprah Winfrey

But just doing for sake isn’t enough. You have to do it heartily and it needs hard work, courage, dedication, determination. It needs Perseverance because you have to pass through many challenges, many tests which will examine your capabilities.

Life is like a roller coaster. Some time you will enjoy your ride and some time you will not. For such down moments, you need to have Patience. Just give time. You have to be very calm in tough situations. You simply can not go mad and outburst on someone in frustration. Just be like river – silence, serene and patience.

“The two hardest tests on the spiritual road are the patience to wait for the right moment and the courage not to be disappointed with what we encounter.”

Paulo Coelho

Yelling or shouting in frustration is very simple and easy to ease your tension but it surely going to affect your relationships adversely. No just wait… not affect, rather it will actually ruin and break your relations down.

“Spoken words never come back just like an arrow never comes back to bow.”

Relationship are like flowers, it has to be handled with care, with politeness. Being polite actually reflects our humanity.

Politeness can do wonders in our relationships, in our working culture.

“Ceremonies are different in every country, but true politeness is everywhere the same.”

Oliver Goldsmith

your-life-will-changeDevelop these 4Ps and transform your life.
