Take criticism with a grain of salt

Neither a person nor life is monotonous.  Life is full of peaks and valleys.  Peaks make you happy and give you confidence while valleys take your happiness, suck your confidence and leave you with a layer of sadness.

Criticism

Critics have a tendency to push us down into these valleys while loved ones and mentors will pull us up, like pulling a bucket of water from a well with a pulley.

When I was a kid, people in my society, teachers in my school and friends always criticised me. Though I was a cute looking kid like a teddy bear, unfortunately, I received hatred, bad mouthing and disrespect especially from elders and my teachers.

Was I doing something wrong or did they see something ambiguous in my character? I had no idea and at that point in my life I never thought about it but in my heart and soul I was crestfallen, demoralized and thrashed.I felt like a cactus in a garden of flowers.

I wasn’t aware of Criticism.

No one on this earth has remained untouched from it.  Today or tomorrow everyone is going to face this.  I entered too early into the world of criticism.

But today I realize that those days made me mentally tough, strong and gave me enough strength to face any level of criticism. I started taking it with a grain of salt. I was and am lucky to get a chance to face the critics.Today I take it with a smiling face.

“I know how to make decisions and stand up to the

criticism every day.“

Michael Bloomberg

We must always try to filter out the negative and search for positive points.  Even diamonds are found in coal mines. Similarly, if scrutinized these irrelevant and piercing criticisms will yield positive feedback and this feedback can make our lives unbelievable and inspirational.  It pumps positivity and rejuvenate us.

Believe me, it would be a great learning experience for us going forward.  Even at valleys we will know the path towards peaks.

My favorite, always wear a smile on your face and most importantly always respect these critics rather than disrespecting them.  These are vital parts of our lives as it indicates our upward growth in life and career. It gives us feedback but it totally depends if we perceive them in a positive or negative way.

If you take it in a positive way, two things will happen:

First, it will enhance our mistakes which we can rectify and develop ourselves.  And second, it will be our win.

If taken positively, it nourishes us.Take it constructively rather than destructively.

But if taken otherwise, trust me, we are on the way to destruction.

“Any fool can criticize, condemn, and complain but it takes character and self-control to be understanding and forgiving.”

Dale Carnegie

Finally, I will end by saying, welcome your critics with a smile and rejuvenate your life.

Keep Smiling.. 🙂

Life is Puzzle, Crack It.

Life is all about Learning. Every day we learn and preserve it in our mind so that in future if we face any difficulties or challenges then we can use these lessons as our life lines and crack the code going forward.

Life is a Puzzle. Everyday, every moment we need to cross the virtual barriers. You can not simply cross them by seeing or staring them.

“You can never cross the ocean unless you have the courage to lose sight of the shore.”

– Christopher Columbus

  • We must know the game.
  • We must Plan our Life.
  • We must learn the Tactics.
  • We must crack the codes to Win in Life.

And believe me, once you get there, no one would be Happier than yourself. We will find ourselves in ninth heaven. And again we preserve those beautiful moments in our heart, in our mind. It will be a feather in your cap.

Obviously, we can not win at every situations, in every game of life. We as humans are prone to lose. Without failures we can never ever win or create our destinies.

“If you’re trying to achieve, there will be roadblocks. I’ve had them; everybody has had them. But obstacles don’t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.”

– Michael Jordan

Rather than dooming ourselves and get trapped in the web of failures, we must take failures as our learning lessons and implement these to win next game. Again there could be possibility of Failure. Learning from these immortal failures give us ample of confidence and internal strength. It makes us mentally tough. It prepares us for next race.

Experiment this:

Whenever you Fail at something, jot down those failures in your diary and write down the causes as well. Think about where you went wrong and how you can rectify the situations. But never forget to write later one. Writing just failures may trap you again and once you write it, it will keep on revolving around your mind and eats up your mind. Negativity may crop up.

Name a single personality whom you admire, whom you treat as your mentor, has never failed. Even greatest entrepreneurs said, if you don’t fail in your business then with no doubt you are going on wrong track.

Even a Masterpiece is created from thousands falls.

So we must learn from our Life and Live our Life to the fullest. Celebrate your failures and Live your Life.

Keep Smiling…. 🙂

Hammer Makes Us Tougher

Which one you would like to have at your home or office, a simple Rock or Sculpture?

A simple rock seems to be useless and has no value while statues decorate our homes.

It takes thousands hammerings, patience and time to make such Incredible and Unbelievable piece.

Sculpturers engrave and scratch at micro level to make it more beautiful and priceless. People can even pay thousands of dollars for these carved sculptures.

You must be thinking, why I am talking about sculptures here.

These above written sentences are synonym of our Life.

Life is full of Hammerings, which can be from Society, from Critics or from Colleagues or Peers at workplace.

All fingers are not same. Every day is not a Sunday.

Similarly, Life is full of Troughs and Crusts. And we have to pass through many transformations which makes our life Priceless and Worthy.

God tests our life.  We always have to pass through various downfalls in our lives and directly or indirectly have to deal with them.  Just like a sculpturer hammers rock to give it a beautiful shape, life hammers on us to make us Stronger and Tougher.  We should never get worried and frightened from such instances in our lives.

Rather, we must prepare us mentally fit and courageously withstand these obstacles with determination. We have to be calm and patient and should never surrender ourselves. It makes us mentally tough and injects confidence going forward in our life. It gives the most precious thing, Experience. We become smarter and sharper. These are life lessons and we must learn from them.

The more we receive such blows and knocks from our critics and society, the more we get tougher internally which makes us consistent. Living in the comfort zone is the biggest risk we actually take.

“If you don’t risk anything, you risk even more.”

– Erica Jong

It’s like hammering on us mentally and putting pressure on ourselves. If taken positively and courageously, we get to learn a lot from these downfalls.

Never get worried from such deterioration and never get collapsed from such knocks. An error can dismantle the statue into pieces; similarly a negative impact can destroy our life. Failures are part of life which if taken positively, gives us a ray of hope, make us a better and valued person.

The more hammers we get in life, the better, valued and respectable we would be.

How to Tackle Your Critics

When we were born, first we received was Love and Smiles from our parents, relatives and family friends. When you opened up your eyes in this wonderful world, people around you got excited and greeted you with love and care.

In the midst of love and affection, there was something waiting for you desperately. We human being coined this ‘Criticism’.

Just imagine, you are sitting on an ecstatic beach in a wonderful evening and reading your favourite book. Sun is about to set, and waves and breeze are making your moment out of the world. Suddenly you hit by some disturbance, it could be a natural calamity or some manmade hindrance. Anything which convert your peaceful twilight hours into unfriendly and make you furious. How will you feel or react?

Source: http://tinybuddha.com/blog/constructive-criticism-is-a-sign-of-your-potential/

Criticism is just like such unwanted, demoralizing weeds which makes our day or life miserable and break us emotionally and we feel like our confidence is being crushed into pieces.  No matter what we feel or how we react but people across enjoy our fall and believe me it gives them internal satisfaction and fulfil their egos.

Critics and Criticism, two simple words but these two words will surely smashes your life down.

Critics have criticised greatest leaders, sports personalities who have achieved impossible and list goes on and on. Not a single person is left out.

When a goalkeeper retires, people talk about his/her misses not the great saves s/he has made in career.

I have been criticised numerous times in my life and now am used to it. Actually now I love being criticised. Being a kid, my teachers, society have always criticised deeply and crushed my feelings. And this made me Strong, Mentally tough and I learned tackling them.

Take Criticism as a Pinch of Salt and we must convert it into Positive factors or Learning steps.

We must learn to handle our critics, their criticism, blame games, dirty tricks. People want you to react and waiting desperately for your mistakes. They enhance your mistakes.

Try these bellow listed steps to simply avoid them, learn from them and move on.

1. Never React/Argue – I blame you and you blame me twice. Game goes on and never come to an end. Finally we are the loser.

Say for example, you are in meeting or talking to your peer. If s/he is blaming you or criticising you, suddenly you come on aggressive mood and react. Never React or Argue. They are actually provoking you to react. And once you are caught in their web, at the end of the day you are the loser.

2. Never show Emotions – In such dirty games, if you outburst, you are finished. Try to control your emotions as much as possible. I believe emotions are beautiful thing and it must be kept for our family and loved ones not for critics.

3. Always be Silent – Never speak or interrupt them in between their unwanted talks. If you do, guess what, it hurt their egos. They are wasting their energy so better let them waste. Why we waste our by speaking or arguing? We must learn where to speak and where to be silent.

4. Wear Smile – Just smile when they are criticising. Don’t say a single word. Just wear smile on your beautiful face. Believe me it will break their Confidence and Morale.

5. Listen – Stay calm and calmly listen to them. If possible jot down their positive ideas in between negative atmosphere. As I always say, filter out negativity and take positive notes.

6. Forget after you leave their Territory – If you are still thinking about their blame games and criticisms then my dear friend they have won their battle. It may make you depressed, heartbroken and you feel low. After leaving, just simple flush out from mind and simply forget about everything. Go for a cup of Tea or some refreshments with friends and change your mood. If possible forgive them.

I have observed on various occasions, we get trapped in critic’s tricks and start reacting, arguing. They want us to react. They provoke us. If you are trying to prove something then at the end of the day they will have the last laugh. Believe in yourself, not what others say about you.

The best reply for any Critics and Criticism is BE SILENT and AVOID SITUATIONS.

Finally, I would sign off with this wonderful quote:

“Words are heavy thing, they weigh you down. If birds could speak, they couldn’t fly.”

Keep Smiling… 🙂

Make your Festivals Unforgettable

I am in Navratri night, a festival which is celebrated across India, also called Durga Puja. It has a great significance in our Indian Culture and History. We, across India celebrate this with joy and pleasure.

Children, Adults all are playing garba in groups and enjoying each of this very moment. No tensions, No work pressure, rather they are full of energy, zest and zeal.

The more we indulge in such incredible ecstatic atmosphere, the more we feel energetic and exuberant. This is I call Life and we must always preserve such fascinating moments in our lives.

When we were kids we enjoyed family gatherings, hangout with friends and waited desperately for special occasions like our birthdays and festival seasons.

These times are not special because of its importance in our lives and in religions but we get time from our hectic schedules and from our chaotic life to celebrate and parallelly they refresh our souls, erase all daily pressures and irrelevant tensions.

We must celebrate all festivals with our loved ones and family because they boost our level of confidence and our relations get stronger, injects positive source in our veins, it helps us to bind ourselves emotionally and these relations inspire and lift our lives as well as careers.

Festivals act as refreshing art in our tortuous career life.

Have you ever observed, when we were frustrated and suddenly some festive or joyful moments flash in front of our lost mind which makes us smile and after few minutes we get rejuvenated and new ideas keep cropping up, floating in and we get solutions of our problem. We feel relaxed.

Make this festive season memorable and unforgettable moments. Because even in our bad times, these will act as energy pills and will put smile on our face and refresh our mind.

Ideas also come when our mind is fresh. Even flowers blossom in calmer, breezy and fresh atmosphere.

So make your festival season unforgettable and make your life beautiful. Have a blasting time.
